HÀ VĂN THỊNH, an 11-year-old boy, who was born in Thong Nhat village, Thanh Ha ward, Thanh Ba district, Phu Tho province, Vietnam has been being an inborn cardiac patient for 5 years but he couldn’t afford to treat it due to poor financial ability. Recently, he has got tired and been short of breath thus he has been admitted to hospital. At present, he is being cured at the bed No. 28, block C2 of Cardiovascular Institute, Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam.

According to the doctors, the boy has a serious innate valvule disease of the heart (2 leaf- valve gap). Now, his left cardiac valve is extending that consequently make his lung blood pressure raised. If there is no surgery to replace or fix the cardiac valve, he will not have a chance to be further cured because his heart failure will be worse and able to cause the difficulties in recovering as well as high death- risk operation.

Total cost for the surgery is 40 million VND but his family is too poor to afford it. His family is typical poor farmer - certified the poor case by Thanh ha commune State authority- struggle their life by 3 rods of corns and vegetable farm (in such circumstance, this family total income is estimated VND 800,000 per month- equal to USD 45/month).

Besides, they have also take care a mental grandmother at home and his younger brother having same disease (inborn cardiac patient-fortunately in easier level of medical treatment). The family as no choice, had just to sell all furniture valued VND 4 million (USD 228), spent VND 1 million for grand mum medical cost that only the left amount VND 3 million for him.

The most important thing is that he is a studious 5th grade student of Thanh Ha commune primary school – dispute of hard circumstance- achieved advance student award in 5 years continuously. If he manages to get surgery soon, he would be able to recover his health, continue study and become a useful potential for social community.  In fact that there have been learnt some poor heart failure patients waiting for death due to not have money or support/charity from outside - or the help came late.

Please give him a chance to be operated, to be saved and continue studying like other children.

NEWS UPDATED

According to MDI Trade Union, Ha Van Thinh’s heart surgery cost of 40 million VND was collected. On the behalf of MDI Trade Union Md. Bui Thuy Ha and Md. Pham Thanh Hoa visited & gave presents along with 40 million VND to Ha Van Thinh on 30th March 2009. He will due to have a surgery on Thursday 2nd April 2009.

On  2nd April 2009 Thinh had been operated for 6 hours and the result was excellent. Mr. Pham Duc Minh, Mr. Pham Van Thang, Md. Pham Thanh Hoa came to visit with a present on 10th April 2009 before Thinh was discharged from hospital & kept having treatment at home. As noticed by the doctors his health is gradually recovering, good feeding & easy moving by himself. This is really good news to his family & all sponsors who are looking after every his movement.

The total of surgery is 29 million VND( fortunately the doctors in Cardiovascular Institute, Bach Mai Hospital did this surgery as a charity so just had to pay for appliances, medicals, blood...). The 11-million-rest is sent to the fund for other charity aims.
